A Historic Double Victory

At the 52nd CARIFTA Games held at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago, Emmanuel showcased exceptional talent and determination. She clinched gold in the Under-17 girls’ 200m with a remarkable time of 23.47 seconds, setting a new national record for Saint Lucian athletes under 18. This achievement surpassed previous records held by renowned athletes Naomi London and Julien Alfred.

Earlier in the competition, Emmanuel secured Saint Lucia’s first-ever gold in the Under-17 girls’ 100m, completing the sprint double—a feat never before accomplished by a Saint Lucian athlete at the CARIFTA Games. Her performances were even more impressive considering she battled leg cramps and competed in five races over three days, including facing a slight headwind during the 200m final.

Emmanuel’s victories contributed to Saint Lucia’s total of four medals at the Games, placing the nation sixth overall. This marks only the third occasion Saint Lucia has secured two gold medals at the CARIFTA Games. The additional medals came from Naya Jules, who earned silver in the girls’ pole vault, and Destinee Cenac, who took bronze in the Under-17 girls’ high jump.

A Beacon for Future Athletes

Emmanuel’s achievements signal a promising future for Saint Lucian athletics. Her dedication and resilience serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the island. As Saint Lucia continues to nurture young talent, the nation looks forward to more groundbreaking performances on the regional and international stages.
